Well, we are here.  We arrived late on Monday night.  We are currently in a hotel until probably Wednesday.  It is kind of cramped right now.  I can't wait 'til we get a yard and lots more room.  We are starting to bug each other. (And the boys need someplace to run)

Let me first say, we are enjoying ourselves a lot.  It has been a lot of fun.  However there are enough differences to make life interesting.  First, the light switches are upside down.  I am having a really hard time with that one.  I keep turning lights on instead of off.  The toilets flush up.  People don't take kids to restaurants (which don't open until 7:30) and everything closes from 12:00 to 3:00 for lunch.

The driving is amazing!!  Dave says it is much more fun than driving in the US, which is one way to look at it, I guess.  It seems that there are aren't a lot of rules.  And there are turn-abouts (circles) every few blocks, even on the expressways, although not as frequently.  It is really interesting.

Yesterday, we went to a town called Foix to see a castle there.  It was a lot of fun.  We were about 30 minutes from Spain.  I find that hard to imagine.  I have always wanted to be here and now that I am my brain is having a hard time believing it.  The boys had a great time exploring the castle and Andrew and I even went all the way up this spiral staircase to the top of the turret to look around.  It was WAY up!!!!

Today we had a welcome to Toulouse party from some of the other Smiths people.  It was a lot of fun and we all were glad to be out of the hotel and not in a restaurant.  The boys got to play with other children (although the are lots older) so they had a good time to.  I think I can't drink the French quantities of wine though!!  But the food was excellent.  People don't eat beef here so we ate duck.  It looks just like a steak and was excellent!!

Well, I have to help put the kids to bed.  I will write again after we move in and I am connected to the Internet.  Right now I am using Dave's computer.

Love you and miss you lots.

Love,

Amy
